  • The urgency to support adolescent girls and young women, particularly those in poverty, has been magnified by global crises such as the ongoing pandemic. Through scalable and sustainable development approaches, BRAC aims to empower these individuals, enabling them to realize their potential, secure livelihoods, and advocate for their rights.
  • BRAC Maendeleo Tanzania is now seeking dedicated individuals to fill the position of Safeguarding Officer. Based in Dodoma/Singida, the Safeguarding Officer will play a crucial role in upholding BRAC’s commitment to protecting vulnerable adults and children participating in its programs, ensuring a safe working environment for staff, and enforcing the highest ethical standards across all operations.
  • Key responsibilities of the role include implementing safeguarding policies, training staff and creating a pool of coaches, acting as a secondary reporting avenue for safeguarding-related issues, conducting threat assessments, ensuring timely reporting of safeguarding violations, and providing survivor support services. Additionally, the Safeguarding Officer will be involved in capacity building, mapping support services, maintaining online safeguarding systems, and participating in program design meetings.
  • Applicants for this position should have at least three years of relevant experience in Human Resource Management and safeguarding within an international development context.
  • They should demonstrate expertise in areas such as protection, gender, or GBV, along with excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Moreover, candidates should possess the ability to build trust, maintain confidentiality, and work effectively under pressure.
  • Educational requirements include a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in relevant fields such as Sociology, Gender and Women’s Studies, Human Resource Management, Development Studies, or Anthropology.
